I am a doctoral student researching how active travel can help the energy systems transition to a fossil free future.I sit within the Energy Systems graduate school, which is part of the Department of Engineering and Management.

I am a research assistant for the EU project WalkUrban which aims to improve our towns and cities for those who walk and roll. It is an original study that will combine both qualitative and quantitative methods, looking at why people walk and how accessible they perceive their local area to be.

For this role I knocked on doors informing people about the help that Oxfam gives to humanitarian crises across the world and gave them the opportunity to help. This was a part time job as I studied Swedish.

I delivered packages to customers doors, helping people receive the goods they needed during the pandemic and gaining experience of working within a start up. This was a part time job whilst I studied Swedish.

I wrote my Masters thesis in the traffic department of WSP, Stockholm, entitled ‘Cycling as a Cooperative Act: Observing cyclists' interactions with pedestrians at a zebra crossing in Stockholm’. In this I looked at how the humans controlling bicycles act and behave whilst cycling in the city - not just where they go but what they do whilst they travel there. It also used a relatively new and original new method.

I worked serving food and drinks at a busy restaurant on Södermalm. It was a part time job whilst I studied at KTH.

I interned at Greater Manchester's transport authority, working with the Transport Strategy and the Innovation departments.

My role was mainly concerned with the day to day running of a government funded website, but that expanded to take in degree verification and graduate labour market research. I was on a temporary contract to cover the Christmas surge in which received extensive customer service training. I answered the phones and received (extremely varied) requests and questions from customers.

I actually worked here from September 2013 - October 2014 and then August - November 2015.I started as a standard, front-of-house member of staff for the function floor but by January I was promoted to Supervisor after impressing over a busy Christmas period.
