I am currently working on my Ph.D. here in Knoxville and working every day to become my happiest self. I work full-time for Volkswagen through a fellowship and get to work with some great people! Research InternOak Ridge National Laboratory May 2017 - Aug 2017Oak Ridge, TnI worked as a research assistant in a radiobioassay lab. I worked in the lab, working to find the optimal pH for the urinalysis dosimetry procedures we were performing. I then got radiological readings from these samples, and compiled the data over a couple months. In the end, we found the optimal color pH indicator as well as the optimal pH to run samples.Finally, I created a poster, discussion, and technical paper describing the findings of my work, and gave a presented both the poster and the discussion in front of my peers at the lab. -
Research InternOak Ridge National Laboratory May 2016 - Aug 2016Oak Ridge, TnI aided in research in a radiobioassay lab, helping to improve urinalysis procedures to help keep RAD workers at the facility safe. The current procedure involved using a very dangerous chemical, creating a hazard to the technicians working in the lab. My research found an alternative chemical that was much safer, and produced similar results for the same amounts of radiation. At the end of the summer, I compiled this data and created a poster, discussion, and research paper.
