When Mystic Color Lab closed in early 2003, there were many former customers, both locally and throughout the U.S., that were left looking for high quality, affordable digital and traditional photo processing. To answer this need, I put together a core group of former MCL employees, raised the necessary capital, and started ABC PhotoLab.Within two years, my team and I brought the company from a shaky start-up to a solid and profitable business, albeit considerably smaller than its predecessor. In 2005, I delegated the day-to-day management of the company; however, I am still active as its Chairman and hold the largest membership interest.

However, during this same period, we were able to gain ground on slower moving competitors; increasing our market share and beating the industry average by 58%. • Those years were also a time of financial turmoil for many photo-processors. In 2000, there were about 30 processors competing in the digital arena. By 2002, there were five left, including MCL with nearly one-third of the U.S. market.
