When I reflect back on why I entered this field, the decision was largely impacted by my dad. He was a Credit Union Manager for over 40 years and taught me the importance of managing your money and saving for the future. I would often accompany him to work, get to go into the vault and watch him interact with colleagues and clients. I remember thinking, “Wow - my dad has the greatest job”. You could say from an early age that I developed an appreciation for saving money and helping others in their pursuits.Today, I feel fortunate to be the leader of an extremely talented team who is client-focused and committed to going the extra mile. Our philosophy is built on the fact that we want to support our clients with total wealth management -- not just money management. This entails supporting our clients in creating a financial plan that works for them today, and also for their future. In 2004 I joined RBC Dominion Securities after graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration – Marketing and Finance from the University of Regina. I have been fortunate to have great mentors throughout my career and developed invaluable experience while working through two large US recessions. My clients who are business owners and corporate executives say I am very relatable because I have experience from other industries too. I learned a lot while working in marketing for Budweiser and as a pharmaceutical sales rep for an international company. The finance industry was always the end goal which is why I sought specialized training in high-level investment strategies- leading me to attaining my Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation. Within the firm, I have been recognized with the highly sought-after RBC Discretionary Portfolio Manager title and have also been on the RBC DS Executive Council (top 300 advisors in Canada) since 2016 which I am proud of. While growing up in a small town in Saskatchewan I developed a passion for hockey. I played three years with the Moose Jaw Warriors and two years with the University of Regina Cougars. Sports have always been a true passion of mine and the skills I picked up on the ice have served me well in my professional life. Discipline, sacrifice, teamwork and working under pressure are at the core of my belief system. I am also a husband and a father to three very active boys. I continue to coach Ethan, Logan and Rylan in hockey and baseball and I enjoy every moment of it! I love being a dad and hope to pass along many of the values that my dad instilled in me.
