Kapu is on a mission to reduce the cost of living and save consumers in Africa $1 billion over the next 10 years. To achieve this goal, Kapu is building the most relevant B2C e-commerce model for the majority of urban consumers in Africa. I led all company building topics - Finance, People, Legal, OKRs, Data - for the first year and helped set the foundation for rapid growth. I helped raise the biggest Seed round in East Africa and a total of $10M+ from leading VCs within first 10 months I currently support part-time (as CFO) and handle all company level fundraising, finance & legal topics.

I shadowed the CEOs of 15 of the fastest-growing companies across emerging markets. I spent 1-5 days as a silent observer, and then delivered tangible recommendations based on an outside-in perspective. As Chief Growth Officer (CGO), I ran the growth process to develop new monetization products and lead all market expansion efforts. I also led all strategic finance, target-setting, and strategy work for the entire company.

As COO, I led B2B business development, B2C growth, strategic finance, company-wide target-setting, the Series A fundraise, and all people operations in East Africa. Key Accomplishments during my time as COO include: - Successful close of the $3.9M Series A fundraise with investors from Europe, the USA, and Japan- 12x growth in monthly B2B sales revenue including 15% growth per month in 2019- 5x growth in monthly B2C engagement with Fuzu peaking as the 50th most visited website in all of Kenya- Successful expansion into the Ugandan market with 25+ launch partners across private, public, and government sectors- Team growth from 10 to 70 full time employees (60 in East Africa)
