In a world filled with divide, war, and discrimination, I hope to use my knowledge and privilege to become a voice for the voiceless, an ally to the underrepresented, and a support for the underprivileged. As a South-African born immigrant, I have the unique position of understanding how culture shapes a life. As such, I have made it a personal mission to remain culturally humble and to be conscious of my own personal biases and stereotypes. My bachelor's in Psychology created the perfect foundation for me to seek a master's degree in social work. I hope that the combination of facts-based interventions and a strengths-based mindset will help me make a difference in the lives of others. My internship in case management and my previous employment as a mental health worker have taught me invaluable skills and knowledge about some of the countless struggles that underprivileged individuals endure on a daily basis. As a member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, I also understand the importance of eliminating the ever-growing division that our society continues to develop.
