Edwin is a Microsoft SQL Server Engineer and Business Intelligence Specialist who has been exposed to IT in general through several detours, some twenty years ago. Over the years Edwin worked in various roles which include SQL Server Engineer, ETL architect, application developer, database administrator, report designer, programmer and data warehouse specialist. Since his career move in 2007 to (Senior) Consultant Business Intelligence Edwin was often active on project-based jobs in a large range of companies in a wide variety of industries. Common activities at these projects are: teamlead, consolidation and information specialist, database administrator, audit specialist and ETL- and report developer. In May 2017 Edwin made a rather drastic career move, putting his BI skills to the background whilst acting as a lead SQL Server Engineer for all MS SQL servers, instances and databases across the entire network, front- to backend. Quite a bold move considering the massive differences between OLTP and OLAP systems.The sectors and industries in which Edwin has performed his various roles ranging from a mixture of branches within the local government and semi-government to automotive, retail, industrial, insurance, transportation, healthcare & insurance, various subsectors within the healthcare and finance.Edwin is a very competent engineer and analyst and is quite capable to let the team benefit of these features and thanks to his broad experience, he is also independently able to translate unfamiliar material into logical problems and solutions. Furthermore, Edwin is vastly widely oriented and is usable throughout the whole field in the MS SQL Server and BI landscape, from database design and ETL processes to reporting as well as being comfortable around database architectures with a high demand for availability and data consistency using several monitoring tools such as SQL Monitor, NewRelic and Site24x7. In Q4-2017, Edwin was invited by Redgate to participate in a “concierge program”. As one of twenty people in the world Edwin was collaborating with Redgate’s developers to improve their software to a more useable product from the end-user’s point of view. With GDPR regulation coming up, Redgate was eager to improve one of their recent acquisitions (SQL Server Estate Manager) to get better insides for customers on PII-data in conjunction with other Redgate software.Besides all that, Edwin’s focus is always client oriented and results driven where he easily and handily uses methodologies and solutions that lay "outside the box”.
