About Edwin Estrada
In 1998 I started working as an adviser in the Legislative Assembly where I had my first contact with the world of telecommunications, since then I have taken advantage of each of the positions I have held to promote the safe, responsible, and productive use of communication technologies, information, and communication.My time in Congress allowed me to acquire various skills, among which I can highlight the knowledge of relations and political negotiation, and the contact with the various stakeholders that interact with the First Power of the Republic (Government, private sectors, and foreign actors ), as well as the confidence to face the challenges that arise in professional life.Having been part of the approval process of the laws that govern the telecommunications sector in the country, gave me the opportunity to learn first-hand about the "spirit of the legislator" and the factual and axiological situations that originate them, and thus have adequate tools to interpret them in the exercise of my profession as a lawyer and telecommunications expert.Having been part of that process opened the doors for me to work in the Vice Ministry of Telecommunications, which I entered as a telecommunications professional, ascending the ladder, also occupying the positions of Concessions Manager and Director of Standards and Procedures, until occupying the position of Vice Minister of Telecommunications in two presidential terms.During my time within the Vice Ministry I had many challenges such as coordinating Costa Rica's accession process to the OECD, specifically in the Digital Economy Committee; being a member of the team that led the current radio spectrum bidding processes in Costa Rica and their execution, and a member of the team that coordinated the transition to digital television in the country, among others.Today I work at Nae, a consulting company related to the ICT issue, in which I have had the opportunity to continue contributing so that society can get the most out of these technologies and thus improve the living conditions of all the inhabitants.Languages: Advanced English / Native Spanish
