I led the occupational health activities in the northern states of Malaysia. Being a team leader, I am grateful to manage a nursing sister, occupational health nurse, and environmental health officer in my team. Our core duties include my leading the occupational health team into workplaces of various companies and industries to ensure that health and safety acts and regulations are adhered. As the head of occupational health division, I also receive reports of occupational injuries and poisoning around the northern region in which I plan the investigation before leading the team into the particular workplace to investigate the work-related injuries or poisoning. Specific roles and responsibilities:1. To plan, coordinate and implement occupational health activities2. To investigate occupational diseases and poisoning reported to DOSH3. To conduct screening tests associated with health risks if necessary for employees exposed to hazards and develop symptoms. This include implementing the Basic Occupational Health Program designed for small and medium industries (SMI), which focuses on screening employees of SMIs and providing education on occupational health and safety topics. 4. To monitor the duties, responsibilities, health and medical surveillance conducted by occupational health doctors recognized by DOSH.• Discuss and advocate the NADOPOD regulations• Conduct monitoring of reports, in particular • USECHH 4, 5(i), 5(ii) reports• Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA) reports• Audiometric Reports5. Implementation of the Code of Practice for the Prevention and Management of HIV / AIDS in the workplace for various corporations.6. Implementation of the Code of Practice for the Prevention and eradication of drug abuse, alcohol and dangerous substances in the workplace.7. Provide healthcare to personnel in the Department through the governmental initiative, MyHess (My Health Surveillance System).
