The primary leadership role of the Director is driving camp culture, recruiting campers, communicating with families, managing camp operations and programs, hiring, training, and supervising staff, managing the budget, ensuring the overall financial health of the organization, and serving as camp ambassador on the broader community. The camp leadership role requires that one brings high energy and an ability to multi-task competing efforts and assignments.Key Responsibilities:Establish team priorities, provide direction and support to staff, ensure efficient operations, and deliver progress reports to leadership.For Program Implementation, Fiscal Management, and Board Relations, key actions include monitoring fiscal performance, collaborating on the annual budget, assessing financial needs, engaging volunteers and partners, building relationships, and overseeing board administration.Manage people, cultivate positive culture, develop staffing plan, lead, and mentor staff, enforce policies, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.Ensure safe program operations, including food service and health center, and comply with laws and ACA standards.Manage marketing, communication, and community relations, targeting campers and families. Director for operating procedures and defines goals and objectives in managing operations at Palmer Park Community Center. Supervise designated staff to include two career and seasonal staff. Recruits, selects, trains and evaluates staff. Plans, schedules and assigns work. Conducts performance appraisals and staff training.Manages and coordinates the facilities’ operating budgets which include revenue-producing facilities and programs. Works with managers on project planning and facility improvements. Prepares financial reports and assists with recommendations of fees. Responsible for regularly monitoring revenues and expenditures within approved budget and reporting them to the Regional Manager. Manages facility records and reports in accordance with Commission policies and procedures. Prepares and maintains a variety of administrative records of the facilities such as; revenue and expenses, inventory of supplies and equipment, time cards, rentals, facility maintenance and attendance. Attends professional seminars to identify new programs, methods and equipment that might be useful for the facility. Conducts research to identify trends or seek information that would be useful to develop programs. Develops marketing strategies with marketing staff.Assist Marketing staff to market facilities. Ensure staff is checking programs that are offered in the Parks and Recreation Guide are accurately entered into the system.Coordinates the maintenance and repairs of the facilities and grounds and ensures they are promptly addressed with minimal disruption to facility programs or schedules.Manages customer service activities of the facilities. Sets a positive example for employees ensuring customers are treated in a prompt, professional, respectful manner.

Responsible but not limited to support networks and coordinate community engagement activities, which may include public programs, community meetings and public gatherings in targeted diverse communities on behalf of the agency mission. Work with the Latino/a and other community residents and strengthen relationships, collaboration and partnerships with the community and encourage engagement in recreational activities, events and initiatives. Identifies potential sources of community engagement and activist recruitment including but not limited to contacts and through data gathering, list research, and collaboration with other agencies and community based organizations. Identifies, develops and maintains relationships, partnerships, and coalitions of organizations, community, stakeholders, community members/leaders and public officials. Implementing outreach strategies educating, motivating, and mobilizing organizations and constituencies in targeted Latino communities including; community meetings, one on one meetings, door knocking, educational workshops and trainings.

Supervise and teach individuals and groups in the outdoors, supervise groups and individuals in the outdoors, ensuring their safety and teaching skills and techniques relevant to the particular activity being undertaken. Works with novices or more experienced participants, and with young people or adults, including groups with special needs. Emphasis on recreation, self-development and teaching activity-specific skills. Develop instructional session and responsible for a group on longer trips/expeditions. Instruct outdoor skills and leadership development.

Planning and managing the programs and activities; developing, coordinating, and supervising activities; reviewing and evaluating recreational programs and facilities; making recommendations regarding changes in programs and policies. Plans, implements, and supervises youth camps, specialty camps, after-school, and teen programs in schools, parks, and community centers. Responsible for recruitment, hiring, and supervision of staff and contractors. Coordinates and plans special community events. Participates in the short/long-term range planning for recreational services; organizes and implements seasonal work schedules and instructions; coordinates activities with public/private cultural and organizations. Responds to citizen service and complaints; discuss issues and recommend options. Recruits, trains, and supervises day camps, after-school, youth, and program activity workers; develop schedules, plans tournaments and activity; evaluates the performance of programs leaders, staff and volunteers and makes recommendations to the Recreation Manager on employment, promotion, or disciplinary actions consistent with the City's goals of establishing and maintaining quality community services cost-effective, customer-friendly service. Coordinates recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers and staff. Participates in planning maintenance schedules for parks and recreation facilities with the appropriate department to assure the readiness of playing fields and facilities; assists the Recreation Manager and staff in coordinating the center's management. Participates in developing interest in recreation, cultural, and social programs by speaking to individuals and groups, and preparing public relations information, including brochures, booklets, and news releases. Assists the Recreation Manager in preparing budget recommendations for program, orders materials, supplies, and equipment as needed; assists with maintaining the registration system to prepare reports.

Assist the Special Events Manager coordinating the city main events including; Chocolate Lovers Fest, Fourth of July, Fall Festival, Holiday Crafts Show, Festival of Lights and Carols and more. Coordinate volunteers, staff, and services during special events.

Trip leader leading canoe wilderness trips to help inspire young people to connect with the natural world and each other, challenge themselves, and learn outdoors skills within safely managed risks. Campers ranged from ages 10 through 14 years of age, and trips range in length from 2-4 days. Job ResponsibilitiesBefore each trip, meet with the campers and counselors going on the trip, gather equipment, pack up trip food, and make sure all logistics are set.Maintain a safe and positive environment for the duration of each trip.Responsible for all logistical aspects of the trips, from meal planning and preparing, to driving, guiding, and facilitating the experiences for the campers.Teach camping and outdoor living skills. Lead and work in collaboration with the group’s cabin counselors. Be an excellent role model for campers. Care deeply for the development and well-being of young people.Maintain all equipment in good working order.Drive campers to and from locations in a 14 passenger van, sometimes with a canoe trailer.Ensure the safety of all participants.Report to the Camp Director any changes to itineraries or incidents.Keep records of all expenses.Maintain the Camp mission.Follow wilderness trip protocols as stated in the manual.

Assistant manager of the aquatic program and sport facilities. Supervision of the aquatic teaching program of 3 to 15 years old kids. Responsibilities include class scheduling, finances, public relations, and staff supervision.

Organize canoe trips and expeditions. Responsible for participants ages 10 to 15 years old during multiple days trips. Additionally, the full planning of each expedition from route, menu, rustic cooking, and safety.
