Edwin Joe is a Petroleum Engineering graduate (First Class Honours) from the University of Uyo with a passion for the energy industry. He is a thought leader in Energy and Sustainability and an advocate for SDGs 4, 7, 11, and 13. He believes in the strength of education to drive the actualization of the SDGs. He aims to drive the message of sustainability through the continent to advance the cause of the Paris Agreement.As a student, Edwin won a good number of awards from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) including; 2nd place National Petroquiz Competition in 2021, 3rd place award National Energy Challenge in 2022 - Where he worked with a group of students from his University to proffer a solution to challenges in the energy industry. He was among the top 3 students in the National Technical paper contest at the Student's Technical Symposium and Exhibition, Delta in 2023 over 65+ submitted abstracts.With a passion for staying abreast of energy discussions and the energy transition, Edwin has attended a vast number of conferences across Nigeria and beyond. He joined industry leaders and top government officials at the 11th Practical Nigerian Content Forum (PNC), organized by NCDMB in Dec 2022. He was also sponsored by the SPE Nigerian Council to receive an award at NAICE in 2022 and later participated in person at the ATCE in Houston, Texas, USA.Edwin holds a Mini-MBA from Tekedia Institute where he learned about Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Management. He has before now demonstrated a deep entrepreneurship drive during his undergraduate studies, where he traded on oil palm to support himself through school. He volunteers and holds positions for various international organizations like YOUNGO, YALI, YPF, SPE etc.Edwin currently works at Western Point Global Solutions Limited as a Support Engineer (Graduate Intern). He has served as a Technical Assistant (Intern) in PEGIS Global garnering experiences such as BHA monitoring and PVT sampling in the Oghareki field of Delta state. He is also a graduate Research Assistant (Remote), showing his commitment to research in the engineering profession.Edwin is open to collaborations to drive the education of SDGs across Africa.
