I am a passionate Food security/livelihoods practitioner, researcher and project management specialist with over 5 years of experience in the field. This includes operational partnerships with technical BSF assistance consultants, and other relevant I/NGO’s, County Governments and Private Sector actors.• Participate in regular Greening and BSF actions, as well as entomology related actions at country office level, including round table partner consultations organised by the Area Programme Manager or Head of Programme. • In consultation with the Project Coordinator, represent DCA at different fora at County Level Integrated Development Plans, coordination and other relevant fora and technical working groups.

Offered technical support in the design, planning, implementation and monitoring of food security, livelihoods and financial inclusion interventions. Lead a team of 20 community based facilitators where we were able to recruit and train over 2000 beneficiaries in nutrition sensitive climate smart crop and animal production. Technical lead in a cash for work program implemented by a consortium of five organizations that facilitated cash transfers to 1500 project beneficiaries in remote areas and production of 8.75 tonnes of insect enriched chicken feeds. Lead in the development of the project narrative, logframe/results framework and M&E framework Facilitated the design and implementation of DCAs first electronic voucher transfer systems for agro-inputs and construction materials supply to project beneficiaries. Actively Prepared project documents including project proposals, theory of change, log frames, detailed implementation plans/work plans, budgets, procurement plans, project narratives and donor project reports. Facilitated collection of quantitative and qualitative data during program evaluations using software’s such as Magpi/kobo collect and conducting focus group discussions and key informant interviews. Part of the team that introduced the first ever DCA Kenya cash-based interventions (multipurpose cash transfer) in Kakuma, Turkana county reaching over 2000 refugee and host community households using the minimum expenditure basket. Grants issuing and management to agri-preneurs; I facilitated competitive issuing of grants to ten agripreneurs in the poultry value chain to conduct commercial production. Supported the development of project monitoring and evaluation systems. Technical lead in DCA first ever program on insect farming and utilization as a novel source of protein and micro-nutrients for humans and animals. The project focussed on rearing two species of insects.

The JIF project was an innovative project promoting the farming and utilization of insects as a source of protein and micro-nutrients. It was a multiyear project supported through Danish funding. Major tasks assigned were: Onboarded and trained over 500 new farmers on the set up of insect farms and utilization of insects as food including fortification of their usual meals with nutrient rich insect meal. Developed training material on insect rearing, utilization and post-harvest handling and consequently published and insect farming guide. Participated in a policy design conventions of insect consumption as food/feed in Kenya Promoting consumption of the nutrient dense insect meal and fortification in normally consumed foods (baked products) Commercialized insect-food products through product development and marketing. Liased with government institutions and NGOs to promote insect as a high-quality protein source.
