About Edwin Melendez

Dr. Edwin Meléndez is an economist, policy analyst and planner possessing historic expertise in housing and community planning, workforce development, poverty eradication policies, and both regional and community level economic development. He is equipped with more than three decades of management experiences, and has supervised dozens of research and demonstration projects. Dr. Melendez is also a prolific scholar with nearly one hundred scientific papers and other academic publications to his name. He has also authored or edited thirteen books. His current work is focused on understanding and supporting recovery in Puerto Rico. Dr. Melendez is also the recipient of numerous academic awards and scholarships, including the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning 2019 Edward Blakely Award for his support of social justice, urban planning, and the development of communities of color.
