Serve as a Senior Analyst and Writer for the development of Headquarters, US Army Europe’s After Action Report for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). • Conduct an analysis of the offices of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, the Comptroller and Information Management using current Joint and Army doctrine and best business practices. Prepare a narrative history of activities and an analysis of performance. Make recommendations for the modification of internal procedures or Joint and Army doctrine. • Conduct a study of “The Home Front” within the US Army Europe area of responsibility. Identify critical elements of the Home Front. Examine current Joint and Army doctrine and best community management practices. Serve as an Expert Consultant to the Veterans History Project, American Folklife Center, Library of Congress. Research the military service of serving members of Congress, members of the Project's Five Star Advisory Council, and others as directed. Prepare and conduct oral history interviews to document their military service and to develop and maintain support for the project. Advise and assist project managers as required.

Manage the Army's central repository for historical material -- published works, manuscripts, personal papers, and photographs. Oversaw the activities of the a staff of 5 military, 30 civilians and 45 volunteers. Developed and managed the Institute's acquisition, public service, security, and conservation programs, personnel and budget activities. Planned for the Institute's new facility and for the development of the Army Heritage Center with its associated museum, museum support facility and educational center. Assisted Headquarters, Department of the Army proponents develop records management and historical collection policies. Conducted outreach efforts with veterans' organizations and the academic community. Served as an Army War College faculty member; as a member of the Army War College Academic Board and as a member of the editorial staff for Parameters Magazine; and as Vice-President and Executive Director of the Omar N. Bradley Foundation.

Led a staff of 12 that planned, coordinated and directed operations that supported the United States Military Academy, its students and the West Point community. Developed plans and oversaw the execution of routine and special events, military ceremonies and special visits to include two Presidential visits, “Football Saturdays” and Graduation. Managed the Academy’s master events calendar to insure efficient and synchronized use of facilities and resources. Coordinated external assistance that enhanced student educational and professional training and facilitated operations to include student exchanges with foreign nations and Army support to cadet summer training activities. Coordinated with intelligence and law enforcement agencies and developed plans to promote physical, information and personal security. Coordinated emergency response programs with New York State and Orange County Emergency Management Agencies. Supported donor development requirements.

Commander, 1st Battalion, 1st Infantry - Led 5 major subdivisions consisting of 950 assigned and attached soldiers and Department of the Army civilians. Responsible for the training, administration and well-being of all assigned soldiers. Provided the Military Academy administrative and supply services, specialized engineering (heavy equipment), police, helicopter and facility support. Managed a range and training complex of 9,000 acres containing 120 support structures and that supported Cadet training and community recreation. Coordinated requirements for and hosted a temporary support staff of 500 soldiers that supported cadet training each summer. As the Deputy Garrison Commander managed the installation housing council, its food service program and reports that support infrastructure requirements. Represented the community and the Academy’s leadership in appropriate media outlets.

Served as Community Commander for Stewart Army Subpost, a geographically separate, multi-service sub-installation of the United States Military Academy. Managed a residential and business complex that consisted of 402 acres, 467 public buildings, industrial areas, a helicopter airfield and a residential community of 590 housing units. Provided community services and public works funded at $6 million to 16 tenant agencies with 1,200 military and civilian employees and 2,000 residents. Coordinated with Congressional and local political leaders Army plans to divest the post. Represented the community and the Academy’s leadership in appropriate media outlets.
