Edwin Patrick Jr., have over 31 years of work experience, with 10 years of management and supervisory experience. In addition, 10 years of Military Services in the US Army. Edwin Patrick Jr., retired from the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) with over 20 years. Edwin came to the agency with a Masters in Criminal Justice, and while working for the agency, obtained his Master’s in Social Work. As part of Edwin’s graduate study he achieved the respected honor of being awarded the Dorothy Miller Award for an exceptional research project which focused on dual status children. In addition, while as a Dependency Investigator Social Work Supervisor, I had also acted as the Dual Status Liaison (2001-2008) between the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) and the Juvenile Probation Department (JPD). This role afforded me the opportunity to create and implement policy and protocol for the dual status cases, as well as provide daily consultation with both line staff and supervisors at both DFCS and JPD. In addition, I have facilitated and co-facilitated numerous trainings to staff, supervisors, attorneys and judges regarding the dual status policy and procedures. This training has been to groups of 25 to 200 which included the monthly mandatory DFCS OPP trainings, Beyond the Bench, and the California Youth Connection Conferences. The agency acknowledges that this was a critical need and created a permanent Dual Status Liaison position.
