AWS is a Scottish-based private non-profit membership organization that offers the full system of the International Water Stewardship Standard. The standard intends to promote water stewardship in a transparent and consistent manner. Pinero oversees the development and maintenance of the standard, we well as the process for accreditation and certification to the standard.

Oversaw the water-related projects and platforms of this industry association. This includes the Louisiana Water Synergy Project.

Developed sustainability strategy, goals, metrics, and approach for North American zone, including water, energy, and waste business lines. Created and implemented best practices, collected performance information, served as part of C-Suite, raised awareness and capacity in workforce, supported business development and operations teams, and represented company in various external efforts. As Research Faculty for the Institute, was involved in course development and lecturing in the new PhD in Sustainability program. Implemented mission of office to promote sustainable environmental stewardship throughout federal government as defined by administration policies, executive orders, and directives.
