Ed Roberson became the Utah BLM State Director on October 3, 2016. Ed previously served as the Director of the National Operations Center (BOC) starting in May 2015. The National Operations Center (NOC) focuses on national-level solutions and provides sound, technical expertise to BLM States, Field Offices, national Centers, the Washington Office, and external customers and stakeholders. The NOC organizes its expertise and services within four service areas: Human Resources Services, Information Resources Services, Resource Services and Business Services. Ed served as the Assistant Director for Resources and Planning between 2007 and 2015. As the AD200, Roberson oversaw all of the development of budget, management and policy for the majority of BLM resource programs. During his tenure the Directorate completed several national initiatives including the National Greater Sage-grouse Planning Strategy; the move of the BLM to a Landscape Approach to Conservation, Restoration and Development; the development of a National Socio-Economic Strategic Plan; and the Geospatial Services Strategic Plan.In his 38-year BLM career, he has served at the project, field, district, state, and national office levels of the Bureau. Ed started as a Community Planner and worked in positions ranging from Environmental Coordinator, District Manager (DM), Associate DM, Assistant DM, Field Manager, Branch Chief, and Deputy State Director.
