Ceridigion, Wales

The property in a remote village near Cardigan Bay had been in ruins for around 30 years before I started work on it with an apprentice builder. All aspects of traditional welsh construction were adhered to wherever possible including cob walling, lime mortar and plaster, lime washing on internal and external walls. The original oak roof structure was dismantled and fully refurbished before being reinstated with hidden timber support. The property was without power and running water, let alone mobile phone reception or internet. The property is now enjoyed as a family holiday home and remains completely off grid.

Somerset, Uk

Working on an architects’ house in rural Somerset to extend the existing Victorian property using large reclaimed or recycled materials. Throughout the project I was given the opportunity to take care of all aspects of the build including stone floor with underfloor heating, bespoke reclaimed wood glazing system, mezzanine. While the project was adjoining the existing property it was very similar to a small new build house, from foundations to internal fit out.
