About Edwin Tan
Hello! I'm a junior at Stony Brook University and I am pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering! As an ambitious and enthusiastic individual, I'm always seeking to improve on my already existing skills as well as improve on new ones! My end goal is to maximize public transportation systems to their full potentials to depend less on cars, planes, ships, and fossil fuels. At the same time, I want to make travel easier for everyone in the world through increasing the efficiency, safety, speed, and green initiatives of transit systems such as the Metropolitan Transit authority. I believe travel should not only be safe for people, but comfortable, reliable, fast, and clean for the environment. Engineering has always been so fascinating and fun especially mechatronics! Being hands-on during building and online through CAD software is such a fundamental and exciting part of engineering. Developing contraptions from either a fun or a productive standpoint using circuits and CAD is something I'll always treasure. Engineering isn't just how civilization keeps advancing; it's also what keeps the mind creative. Throughout my internship and academic journeys, I've worked on many teams and I've had the opportunity to network with many of them! As a result, I developed an interest within project management alongside engineering itself. As of now, I'm looking for summer internships and co-ops in engineering and project management where I can apply skills like CAD.
