Life is always subject to change. That is half the fun! As an employee, it is common these days to change jobs every few years. However, when you work for yourself, you are in control of your professional life.My current pursuit is in building and running my online business. I decide when to work. Make no mistake. working for yourself is still hard wok. And lots of it. The strange thing is, it doesn't feel like work compared being an employee. Nothing wrong with that. Just different. Let me summarize the various job functions I've had in my life as an employee:Sales of various typesLife Insurance Flat Panel Display TechnologistThat's it! As a Flat Panel Display Technologist I had three different jobs in three different countries, England, Canada and the US. When I changed jobs, I changed countries! Happy to say that I stopped changing countries after the US. I have been very happy working in all the above activities. Met lots of great people. I traveled the world on business, visiting countries like Israel, Germany, Italy, England, Japan and South Korea. I did pioneering work in the field of LEDs and LCDs long before they became household words! On one of my flights from Munich to LA I was upgraded to 1st Class and guess who I sat next to. None other than the infamous OJ Simpson! He even sighed my Flight Menu that I still have! This trip occurred between his murder trial and his prison stint, I learned a lot about OJ in those 12 hours. One of my most enjoyable activities is my involvement with Toastmasters International. My most satisfying accomplishment was the role of District Governor (now called District Director) for one of the Southern California Districts. My main responsibility was to ensure that our 2000 plus members were given all the support they needed to accomplish their speaking, communication and leadership goals. We earned the coveted award as one of the few Distinguished Districts in the world! It's time for a change!
