Hello! My name is Edwin Yee. I am a fourth-year undergrad studying computer science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Currently, I'm looking for summer 2025 internships and full-time software engineering-related opportunities. My programming background includes 3 years of experience working with Python, 2 years of Java, and 2 years of C++. In my previous internship as an Application Developer Intern, I utilized Python, the Box API, and UCSB's Identity API to automate Box User Management. I created an easy-to-run Python program that removed inactive users from the UCSB Box environment, archived their files into a Box Archive account, and updated users' enterprise information. Some of my personal projects include EcoCount, Movies2Watch, and Connect4Checkers. EcoCount is an Android app (coded in Java) that tracks a user's carbon emissions while driving. Movies2Watch (coded in Javascript) is a MERN stack program that creates a web environment for users to post movie reviews. Connect4Checkers (coded in Python) is one of my attempts at applying machine learning algorithms to a small, unique game. I performed Natural Language Processing (NLP) research in the Early Research Scholars Program (ERSP) at UCSB. I learned about machine learning concepts such as perceptron, naïve bayes, random forest, and gradient descent. I also became more familiar with NLP topics like n-grams, perplexity, TF-IDF, Question Answer Generation, RNNs, and transformers. My team's ERSP project (Prompt Engineering for Stable Diffusion Using ChatGPT and Prompt-Based Learning) integrates ChatGPT's knowledge to help create optimal stable diffusion prompts using few-shot learning. Our poster with the compiled results was accepted into the national ERSP conference.
