The project took place in Stavanger (software- and hardware engineering), The Nymo shipyard in Grimstad (integration tests) and the Ula platform (commissioning). The control system has four process controllers: the Fire and Gas system, the Process Control System, the Process Shut Down System and the Emergency Shut Down System. These controllers are object oriented and are programmed with Program Builder: an ABB specific engineering tool.Main Activities: • Development, • testing and • commissioning (on a shipyard) the automation of this installation.Technology used: • ABB Industrial IT Process-control system with a SIL2 (security) rating and a fail-save design. • Visual Basic for the operator screens.Achievements: • Successful implementation and • commissioning of the system.2) Project - “Ula Gas Upgrade” Software interfacing (based on Modbus) between the ABB Industrial IT System and a Solar Turbine/Compressor unit.
