About Edwin Rivera Castellanos

As a first-generation Chicano-Salvadoreño from the South Bay of Los Angeles, I bring a unique perspective to my role as a Ph.D. student and Teaching Assistant at UCR. With a BA in Sociology from UCLA, my research focuses on how socio-spatial dynamics influence educational policies and practices, particularly in rapidly evolving urban environments. My work, grounded in experiences from diverse L.A. neighborhoods and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities, aims to address educational disparities and contribute to a more equitable educational landscape. Through rigorous study and a commitment to societal change, I seek to impact the ongoing conversation around education and equity.
