I am seeking an opportunity to pursue my passion in helping young people succeed, particularly in areas and subjects that they thought were beyond their reach.Of all the endeavors and opportunities my academic positions provided, mentoring, tutoring and teaching have been the most gratifying. The reward is in that ‘aha’ moment when a student comes to understand the concept, or better yet, when students ask perceptive and unexpected questions that open new views for all of us. I believe that teaching and learning are communication art forms and always a collaborative effort, but too often, the basic math and science concepts necessary for success are presented in forms and pathways accessible only to the bright and ready few. Too often students are not given the help they need to go from what they do know to what they need to know to succeed; and this continues to limit diversity especially in science and engineering disciplines. I’m in the neighborhood, and I want to help.
