About Emely Diaz Guevara
My name is Emely Diaz Guevara and I am an educator who is passionate about educational equity and dismantling oppressive systems in our school buildings and beyond. I strive to create an environment where students feel seen, supported, and safe. My passion for service and education stems from the care and guidance I received from my teachers, professors, and mentors as an immigrant and first generation college graduate. I am entering my seventh year as an educator and have experience teaching 5-12 social studies and middle school language arts. I also have experience in instructional coaching and teacher development. I began my career as an educator in New Orleans as part of the TFA Corps and have since moved to New Jersey. In the last six years my focus has been on becoming a master teacher while exploring my interests in education policy, school leadership, and project management. Through my interests I have pursued multiple fellowship and internship opportunities that have widened my skill set and network. This fall I will be starting my graduate studies at American University to pursue a Master's in Public Administration with a focus on education policy.
