Help and accelerate small startups, especially ones which are targeting to fast international growth. Minero was running accelerator program here in Oulu 2012-2014. My role was to work as head coach in Accelerator (Oulun Yrityskiihdyttämö). We run 3 batches and totally 19 companies participated into program. The results have been quite good. Our main target in program was to help participating companies to become fundable. At least 13 companies out of 19 have so far received funding. After On2 Technologies acquired Hantro Products Oy, I was invited to move to On2 Technologies head quarters in order to help in integration process of two teams (On2 and Hantro). I worked as CMO of the On2 having responsibility of strategy, product strategy and marketing, which was interesting experience in many ways, not to mention to be part of the management team of listed company (On2 was listed in AMEX). During 2008 we created new strategy for On2 which in the end resulted Google to acquire On2 Technologies during 2010.

I joined Hantro Ky 1991, first as an employee, later as a partner. Together with my colleaugue, we founded Hantro Products Oy 1992, where I worked as CEO for 16 years. First eight years we were design subcontractor in digital ASIC design. The company grew from 2 persons (1992) to 25 persons in 1999. Nokia Mobile Phones and Nokia Networks were our major customers but we had quite a many smaller customers from EU, USA and Japan. In 1999 we decided to start developing our own products. This was time before 3G and phones did not have cameras. However, 3G was under development and we realized that video will be one of the main usage of new 3G networks. We developed video codec (or in fact quite many versions of video codecs). Video codec is used to compress the raw video from video camera so that it can be send over the air and then decompress the compressed video in other end so that it can be then shown on display (video encoder and decoder). In order to be able to focus on our own product development, we decided to look for external funding. In three years (2000-2003) we raised over 20 MEUR of equity based funding and quite a bit of public funding (developments loans mainly). In the same time we grew the team from 25 to 80 employees. On the top of excellent video codec development team in Oulu, we also build our own sales team. By 2006 we had sales offices in Helsinki, Munchen, Taipei, Seoul, Tokio and Silicon Valley. By 2007 our sales grew to close to 10 MEUR and company turned to be cashflow positive. We were clear market leader in video codec market and had 27 international semiconductor companies as our customers. At this point it was agreed with our investors that we will start looking acquirer for Hantro. After quite a bit travelling and negotiating, On2 Technologies' offer to acquire Hantro as accepted by our Board and investors. After merger, I moved to work in the States as CMO of On2 technologies.
