In a global role, I am responsible for implementing the company’s packaging strategy and leading packaging development. I restructured essential packaging processes by establishing clear responsibilities across functions for packaging definition and review. I collaborated with multiple teams to create standardized requirements for materials, sizing, load efficiency, and visual design. Additionally, I redesigned methods for collecting and storing both qualitative and quantitative packaging data, which was essential for meeting EU packaging producer responsibility regulations and reporting on packaging waste.This role has taught me how to operate within a global corporate matrix and how to drive change within a deeply rooted company culture. My understanding of process management has significantly deepened in this position.

Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland

In this temporary role, I explored new applications, markets, and opportunities for the eco-friendly Woodly material. I expanded our market reach into the UK by securing a major distributor. I contributed to developing applications for Woodly, including trial runs to test its viability as an extrusion coating for cardboard, and identified a partner for testing the material in flowpack applications. I was also involved in commercializing drink cups made from Woodly, sourcing potential business partners, participating in cost analysis, and collaborating on pricing models.This role enhanced my understanding of marketing environmentally friendly materials and provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in a start-up environment. I developed skills in identifying partners and initiating dialogue with potential collaborators both national and international context.

Vantaa, Uusimaa, Finland

Initially, I was responsible for selling and marketing the company’s services alongside the Business Development Manager. Soon, I began assisting in preparing and reporting research findings. I was part of the team building a joint marketing venture, Sense n' Insight, with two other packaging research companies. Later I led eye-tracking studies, execution, reporting, and client presentations. I also developed and led consumer packaging research training sessions. A significant project I initiated was assessing packaging’s environmental impact in collaboration with the Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE), the Finnish Packaging Association, and other industry partners. This project, initially called Packaging Sustainability Score, became part of a larger EU-funded initiative.Working with Best Before UX Research Ltd., later Sense n' Insight, taught me how to secure funding, build marketing strategies, and develop services with limited resources in a start-up setting. I learned that selling expert services requires an in-depth understanding of even the smallest details.I also realized that progress requires dedication and a strong team, and I came to appreciate the value of my professional network, built over my career, in advancing good ideas.

Lahti, Päijänne Tavastia, Finland

As the Sales and Marketing Manager, I managed the provision of repro services and flexographic plates for packaging industry clients. My responsibilities also included developing electronic ordering and printing design process management services in collaboration with the IT Manager, CEO, and an international service provider. During the CEO’s illness, I temporarily took on many of his responsibilities for approximately 1.5 years.This position taught me the importance of deeply understanding client needs to provide effective solutions and to remain informed on industry developments. I strengthened my leadership approach and learned that with confidence in my expertise, I could effectively manage challenging situations to achieve positive outcomes.

Finland

In this role, I managed the in-house prepress department, which produced flexographic plates for the print department. I also supported both domestic and international sales by advising customers on packaging printability and usability innovations developed or offered by our company. I was actively involved in developing these innovations and enhancing product value.This position taught me how to work in an international environment, giving me the opportunity to collaborate with companies across the packaging and print industries, including clients in the food, health, and pharmaceutical sectors. My understanding of effective leadership and managing diverse teams grew significantly in this role. Also my understanding of industrial processes gained significantly.

Finland

As project manager, I led the construction of a new Prepress Department, transitioning the company from outsourcing to in-house production of flexographic plates and repro services. The project, which lasted about a year, yielded annual savings in the hundreds of thousands. In the following years, I managed the Prepress Department’s operations, development, and growth. I oversaw handling print materials from design agencies and coordinated print approvals for new packaging designs. I also served as a subject matter expert on the Prepress Department's requirements during the company-wide transition from a legacy system to SAP, implemented across several European locations.In this role, I developed proficiency in graphic software, learned the nuances of flexographic printing, and gained experience working in a global client and team environment. I also gained extensive knowledge of various packaging plastics and their production processes.
