My task is to provide strong scientific experience in the field and to ensure that Sirenas has the best combination of expertise, resources and sustainable strategy to succeed.

Galileo Biosystems discovered novel underlying chemistry alleviating inflammation in the human body. We're now developing these new molecules in inflammatory skin disease, as well as systemic disease. My role is to provide strong leadership and a scientific and strategic vision to our mission and amazing team.

Barefoot Labs is an entity designed to help develop and push forward cutting edge ideas- it makes investments in seed stage companies in life-science and technology, as well as developing new internally generated concepts.

My initial graduate work and passion was in neuroscience (computer simulations, synaptic transmission and imaging). However, I transitioned to the field of natural products/metabolomics for my dissertation work and joined the Dorrestein Lab at UCSD and the Gerwick Lab at SIO. During my tenure at these institutions I developed and mastered techniques that expedite the identification and isolation of medically promising chemistry from marine organisms. Broadly I was interested in streamlining and optimizing the natural product discovery process and more specifically, focused on using mass spectrometry approaches (Molecular networking, MALDI-TOF imaging, metobolomic profiling ) in new ways in order to identify, characterize and visualize the presence of bioactive secondary metabolites in marine cyanobacteria and sponges.
