I develop the FCA's rules and guidance on cryptoassets to meet the standards of technological change in financial services. As part of this work, I am involved in the creation of a new UK regime for cryptoassets used as payment, and analysed new payment systems.

As part of the team advising on issues relating to investigations and enforcement, I provided legal advice to investigation teams on the scope of FSMA powers and on penalties. I had the opportunity to advise on the transposing of EU regulations into UK legislation and to draft parts of the FCA handbook. I also honed my managerial skills by managing a.

I widened my knowledge of different parts of the financial sector by providing advice to different parts of the FCA on issues relating to investigations and enforcement. I also presented on FCA processes and procedures to external agencies.

As a lawyer in the Litigation and Legal Review team, I advised investigation teams and case officers in Authorisations on legal issues arising in investigations, Part VI, Part V and Change in Control applications. I also advised on proposed enforcement outcomes. I progressed cases before the Regulatory Decisions Committee, Tribunal and the Hight Court. I.

I represented the junior employed bar on the Bar Council's Modernisation Working Group which led to the introduction of new provisions for Bar Council meetings. I contributed to proposals for law reform as part of the Law Reform Committee, ensuring the Bar Council's views were reflected in government proposals.

I replaced the previous Chair who had stepped down just as the UK entered lockdown. I overhauled the charity's structure and processes with the view of making it more robust in the face of increased demand on its services. It was an opportunity to develop strategic leadership, change management and people management skills.

I developed advisory and drafting experience in a commercial and insolvency practice. I assisted counsel in the successful dismissal of a winding-up petition brought by HMRC for alleged unfair taxes. I was able to shadow counsel representing the FCA in what would become the leading authority on collective investment schemes (FCA v Asset Land [2014] UKSC 17).

As part of the team acting as prosecutors before criminal courts, I was responsible for aspects of recovering the proceeds of crime.

I worked in a team responsible for discharging the FCA's powers under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations (now the Consumer Rights Act 2015). During this time I obtained a detailed understanding of the FSA's requirements in relation to customer contracts, and the numerous contract and European law principles that underpin this relatively.

I participated in investigations into retail firms from a wide range of sectors: stockbroking, fund and asset management, mortgage broking and lending and entities approving financial promotions. I also led on interviews and settlement discussions.

I assisted the criminal solicitors in the Criminal department in all elements of case preparation.
