InvestigatorAdult Protective Services State Of Utah Feb 2011 - PresentGreater Salt Lake City AreaAs an Adult Protective Services (APS) investigator, I conduct interviews, collect evidence, create and implement interventions, and facilitate assessments of vulnerable adults who are allegedly or have been victimized through abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation. I carry a wealth of knowledge and skills in the areas of suicide, domestic violence, dementia, mental health diagnoses, human trafficking, LGBTQIA, etc., through training and certification. One of my objectives as an investigator is to respect the dignity of the vulnerable adult while assessing for capacity and determining their self-determination rights and lifestyle choices. Networking and collaborating with the client's needed wraparound service may include law enforcement, ombudsmen, hospitals, mental health, victim advocates, banks, legal system, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, group homes, and families therefore advocating with these multi-agencies are an integral part of implementing the client's safety and protection. Basic and technical computer skills are needed to complete work tasks. Networking and building alliance with communities, other States and out-of-state agencies, and Tribal Offices are fundamental to the helping system. Working independently and cohesively are paramount to a successful outcome of the investigation and implementation of the client. Maintaining an active social work license is required and critical to my employment.
