This position serves as the Supply Technician in the Forward Customer Support Section, Supply Chain Management Branch, Logistics Division. Supply Technicians form the backbone of the Supply Chain Management Section because they are the ones responsible for the timely and correct delivery of supplies from the Warehouse to the customer. Supply technicians are the first line in customer service, directly interacting with customers at the lowest level. At least twice each day, supply technicians pick up and deliver to the customer a variety of medical supplies. They verify that the quantity, Item ID, and description of materials delivered/picked-up match the accountability documentation. In addition to the regular duties of a Supply Technician, the person holding this position is also responsible for providing comprehensive logistics support for all tenant units, TDA and TO&E, ISR, DENCOM, VETCOM, SOUTHCOM, USARCO, ARMY, Air Force, NAVY, and Marine Reserve Components and ROTC activities within the tri-state area, as well as National Guard Units and ARNORTH and ARSOUTH Humanitarian Missions. The Supply Technician is required to perform extensive research and cataloguing both medical- surgical and pharmaceutical products in multiple automation systems to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance and standardization initiatives. Supply Technicians work in a stressful environment and must respond quickly and correctly to emergency situations. Current TDA requirements do not accurately reflect the number of Supply Technicians required to meet all requirements for all customers. The resulting deficiencies manifest themselves in missed cost avoidance opportunities, increased number of expired items, stock outs, and increased needs for emergency orders.
