Efstathios (Stathis) Magerakis is an economist, holding a BSc in Economics (2005) from the University of Patras, Greece. He obtained an MBA (2015) and an MSc in Applied Economics and Data Analysis (2017), both awarded with distinction, from the University of Patras, Greece. He completed his PhD in Economics (2022) from the Department of Economics, University of Patras, Greece, with a dissertation titled "Essays in financial accounting and corporate finance." During his PhD, his research work was supported by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) under the HFRI PhD Fellowship grant. His research interests lie in the areas of corporate finance and financial accounting with a particular emphasis on how institutional, managerial, or firm-specific factors influence corporate policies and performance outcomes. His work has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Applied Accounting Research, International Review of Finance, and Journal of Cleaner Production. He regularly presents his research at several international conferences including the European Accounting Association (EAA), Financial Engineering & Banking Society (FEBS), and Hellenic Finance and Accounting Association (HFAA). He has been in the industry for more than 15 years, as a licensed certified accountant, developing expertise in accounting principles and tax legislation. He currently works as a financial consultant at Mixanografiki LLC, while he has teaching experience as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of Economics in University of Patras in accounting and financial analysis courses. His technical skills include proficiency in statistical data analysis packages (Stata, R, Excel), business intelligence software (Targit), accounting systems (SingularLogic and OTS family of applications), and typesetting and markup languages (LaTeX, Markdown). His professional experience as an accountant and financial consultant allows him to bring real-world insights into his academic work and teaching. Efstathios has teaching experience in accounting and financial analysis at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in both in-person and online formats.
