About Evan Stone
I'm a software developer and occasional trial lawyer with a focus on IP Law and rights enforcement. The bulk of my software work over the last fifteen years has focused on the creation of systems for law firms, entertainment companies, and rights enforcement companies to facilitate content protection, rights enforcement, workflow automation and law practice management. As for legal work, I am admitted to seven federal jurisdictions and the State Bar of Texas. Since opening my law practice I have handled several dozen civil/criminal trials, along with a handful of appeals, at the state and federal level. These days, however, you can mostly find me writing code instead of drafting legal pleadings.I attend, and sometimes present at, a fair mix of tech and legal conferences and meetups every year. My presentations have been similarly mixed with some purely based in law (e.g. "Basic Principles of Copyright and Fair Use in the Visual Arts"), and some based in tech (e.g. "Webscraping and Browser Control with BeautifulSoup and Selenium") and sometimes both (e.g. "Infringement Litigation and Internet Service Providers") This year I was lucky enough to find a conference that was also the perfect mix of the two disciplines! The IACC annual conference on anti-counterfeiting. It was outstanding!
Listed skills include Contract Negotiation, Intellectual Property, Legal Research, Legal Writing, and 33 others.
