I conduct data analysis and visualization in support of international civic/electoral programs and innovative democracy research. In a typical week, I'll work on everything from multilingual data dashboards to survey data processing to custom infographic designs. I also lead election forecasting and monitoring for ElectionGuide, the most timely and comprehensive online elections database.

Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Fulbright Study/Research Grantee to Brazil, affiliated with the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP)Project title: "Próxima Parada: Regional Transportation Accessibility in Minas Gerais, Brazil"

I conducted research on water resources and WASH to support Mercy Corps programs across six countries. I processed and analyzed a wide variety of WASH data, conducted literature reviews, copy-edited documents, and helped conduct intra-agency workshops. I also provided key geospatial support to the Environment team via performing spatial analysis tasks, creating maps, and conducting QGIS training sessions. Projects included a hydrological assessment of a proposed dam system, an international analysis of SDG WASH progress, and an interactive French-language dashboard of agricultural and household data.

I created An Atlas of Urban Latin America, a digital atlas that provides a novel view of the region via 483 of its major cities. I collected over 140 open-source datasets from government, academic, and collaborative sources then thoroughly processed and analyzed them in Excel and R. From these, I ultimately assembled 70+ innovative data visualizations, along with supporting text and layouts, in QGIS and Inkscape. This work formed part of my honors thesis, and it was supported by a Major Grant from the Stanford Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education.

Using geospatial and economic data, I identified intervention sites for a six-country, multi-million dollar piped water study. I also participated in stakeholder consultations and created summary graphics to explain the site selection process. Later on, I conducted exploratory research on population distribution and household service provision in Uganda as part of the Extreme Poverty, Infrastructure, and Climate Initiative (EPIC).

While in Chile, I co-designed and conducted a water quality sampling campaign for the Mapocho River using geospatial data and consultations with local utilities. I also created site maps and processed data for the associated journal article.

Chavín De Huántar, Ancash, Peru

I excavated, identified, and catalogued ceramics and faunal remains from the Chavin de Huantar World Heritage Site. In collaboration with Dr. Miriam Kolar, I also conducted archaeoacoustical surveys and psychoacoustic pilot of my own design (article published in Change Over Time). Other specific projects included a malacological specimen inventory, site infrastructure upgrades, and community landslide preparedness measures.
