About Ege Demir
I am a third-year undergraduate student in The University of British Columbia's Faculty of Arts, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Philosophy. My specific interests lie in international right-wing nationalist/populist movements, climate/environmental politics, and decolonial ethics. The preservation of our environment, and the global systems which support efforts towards this preservation, are complicated and interlinked with both national and international politics; through study and research, I seek to clarify and educate upon these connections.I greatly value community identity and I am a strong believer in the power of creative fields such as music, theatre, film, and the visual arts to serve as outlets for self-expression and a basis for developing connections between people. I will soon begin my service as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator for the UBC Players Club, aiming to bring theatre to students with a focus on equality, accessibility, and community-building!
