University Lecturer - Speciality DirectorMch Master Sep 2022 - PresentMadridMCH - Master in Collective housing has been ranked #1 Master of Architecture and Design in Spain and 3# Worldwide. For the 2022-23 edition, I am the coordinator of the ''Low Resources and Emergency Housing'' speciality, worth 4.0 ECTS. The seminar covers a broad range of topics which look at housing and crises from different perspectives introducing the issues around informal settlements, displacement and emergencies, humanitarian contexts as well as illegal occupation and homelessness. The main objective is to be thought-provoking and to encourage students to question their role as architects in the current world context, standing out from ‘’regular architecture and urban practice’’ and observing things from a different angle, giving the students a clear picture of reality on the ground, away from too theoretical frameworks. The lectures revolve around real case studies, involving experts on each topic who present scenarios in which they have been actively involved (through either emergency responses, design projects or research). These are complemented with a number of horizontal topics such as water and sanitation, gender, sustainability and environmental aspects. Finally, a number of sessions are devoted to introducing instruments that the students will be able to apply in their future career such as community participation techniques or Project Cycle Management tools and the main actors involved in the international response to emergencies and crises. -
