I have spent the last four years in science education, developing and teaching a variety of science curricula. I currently teach three days a week at a high caliber private school in Atlanta, Georgia. I also have the incredible privilege of working at Zoo Atlanta as an exhibit interpreter, where I am able to utilize my passions for wildlife, conservation, and education to teach people about amazing animals and why it is so important to protect them and their habitats. After three years in public education, I recognized that while I had enjoyed many aspects of this career and how it allowed me to develop many important skills, there are other avenues that are better suited for my career goals and passions. I began to spend time reflecting on the aspects of my career in education that I have most enjoyed, as well as the passions I’ve developed through hundreds of hours of volunteer work in animal care. Through this, I have realized that I thrive in environments where I can contribute my skills to an organization or industry that is working to better the lives of others, whether it be people, animals or the natural world as a whole. I have been extremely fortunate to find positions where I can work alongside others on a team that shares my values of integrity, innovation, positivity, and inclusivity. I am very grateful for this as I continue to explore potential career paths in education, animal husbandry, and more.
