I am a CRNA at USAP in Austin. I completed my DNP at Baylor College of Medicine. Prior to attending BCM, I was a Neurosurgical ICU Registered Nurse at the Houston Methodist Hospital. At HMH, I had the opportunity to take care of critical patients who have neurological conditions that range from strokes to tumors to spinal issues. I also have precepted/oriented new, oncoming nurses to not only learn how to be a Neurosurgical ICU nurse, but I also taught them about the HMH core values and beliefs. In December 2017, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. During my time at the University of Texas I have co-founded a company that bridges community health and nonprofit organizations, joined numerous organizations around campus and participated in many community wide mental health awareness activities such as Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome, Suicide Prevention Week, and Speak Freely Speech Pathology for children with Down Syndrome. I was also chosen to represent UT's School of Nursing at the Texas Leadership Society's Austin Summit, where I presented research on a pertinent healthcare issue: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus' Progression to PostPartum Diabetes Mellitus Type II. With the combined minds of myself, a Nursing major, and my colleagues who are Finance, Marketing, and Nutrition majors, we were able to win the Improve UT Challenge and receive a $10,000 investment from UT's Student Government. Our plan was to initiate the Pay it Forward plan where students can anonymously donate money to other students, who are in need financially, simply by rounding up their cents to the nearest whole dollar during transactions on campus. This money will be pooled into a private account where students who are at need will have access to. According to our statistical analysis, we will generate up to $50,000 a month for these financial needs students; providing meals to hundreds, and hopefully thousands of students.
