As an assistant general counsel at Deloitte, the world’s largest professional services firm, I provide pragmatic and business-minded legal support to stakeholders at all levels across multiple departments in the management of client relationships across consulting, advisory, and business process outsourcing services. I lead cross-functional teams in the negotiation and execution of client service engagement agreements, balancing business objectives with compliance with firm policies and procedures, advising on and coordinating all aspects of legal review in line with evolving legal playbooks, including risk management, privacy and data security, regulatory concerns, employment issues, and subcontracting matters. In addition to my role as front-line resource for service line leaders and client service partners, I provide strategic legal advice and represent the Office of General Counsel at the intersection of Deloitte’s multidisciplinary model in support of business growth as a member of different leadership teams serving several of Deloitte’s highest value clients.Along with my passion for training and mentoring younger attorneys, I’ve also had a hand in enhancing Deloitte’s culture. I was privileged to serve as a member of the CEO- and board-facing cross-functional working group which was pivotal in researching and launching initiatives to promote the firm’s shared values. These efforts culminated in Deloitte’s $1.5 billion social impact investment fund and additional disclosures in the firm’s Transparency Report starting in 2021. Further, I was nominated to be a 2022 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. I started my legal career as a corporate associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York —and later continued as a technology transactions attorney at Morrison & Foerster LLP in Tokyo and New York— where I worked with clients in technology, banking and financial services, entertainment, and media on deals valued in the billions collectively. My law firm experience spanned IP-focused cross-border M&A technology transactions; joint ventures and strategic alliances; technology, software, and content licensing; equity and debt securities offerings, debt exchange offers, and tender offers; syndicated credit facility transactions; and SEC filings. In between my law firm tenures, I was an in-house attorney in media and entertainment at Hearst Corporation and Sesame Workshop respectively where I negotiated hundreds of commercial agreements related primarily to licensing intellectual property in all formats.
