Nearing completion of a PhD at Fuller Theological Seminary, studying Intercultural Studies as it relates to sociological trends in faith organizations around gender and leadership. Fuller is the largest and most prestigious multidenominational seminary in North America and one of the largest in the world, attracting more than 5,000 students annually from 70 countries and more than 100 denominations. My Fuller studies have included exploring current sociological research around gender, conducting qualitative field research throughout the United States, examining organizational development and management theory, as well as studying leadership training in Singapore and Thailand. My doctoral studies build on my experience of exploring human development and social policy at Northwestern University and pursuing a master’s degree in social work at Loyola University. For four years I worked largely with intercity Chicago Latino adults as an individual and group therapist and took several mission trips to Turkey, Australia and later Kenya. In Turkey and Kenya, I conducted life skills workshops and provided emergency counseling. In 1995, I moved into the business world in Indianapolis where I continued to work with urban and food ministries as a member of the Indianapolis Vineyard Church. I returned to the Chicago area in 2003 to pursue a pastoral position, which I continued to hold as I entered my master’s degree program in global leadership from Fuller with the goal of earning a PhD. in Intercultural Studies.
