Glance is a customer experience platform that allows companies to provide real human guidance and expertise at the most important moments to their customers.As one of the first employees, I hired the initial engineering team and led the development of an instant screen-sharing product which we bootstrapped to a profitable SaaS business with thousands of customers world-wide.We built the leading cobrowse service, allowing company representatives to guide their customers in web experiences, including one or multi-way video, content sharing and collaboration. We pivoted to enterprise sales, selling into contact centers at some of the largest banks, mutual fund companies and other financial institutions. We have created new solutions and integrations for the leading tax preparation software and one of the most well known creators of personal electronic devices.I have done architecture, design, hiring, technical management, individual coding on front-end, back-end, database, web, desktop and mobile platforms. I’ve hired and managed outside contractors and firms, writing specs and SOWs. I’ve been involved in the development of our integrations with Salesforce, Twilio, MS Dynamics, Genesys and others.Lately I’ve been focusing on platform performance and application security. I’ve configured, run and interpreted our static and dynamic code scanning and set up and managed our HackerOne bug bounty program. I interpret external pen test results and work with customers on their security reviews. I’ve created automation for AWS Web Application Firewall. I’ve driven our efforts toward security best practices.

I have done occasional consulting on architecture, technology, strategy, hiring/interviewing, or "Virtual CTO" type engagements; particularly to very early stage ventures or companies in transition.

Managed the development, operations and QA groups for this online travel company. I was then appointed by the VCs as part of a 3 person executive committee to run the company and lead the process of selling it. This culminated in a sale to Rosenbluth Interactive (a joint venture of Rosenbluth International, Marriot, Continental Airlines, Sun Microsystems, Excite@Home)

We built an award-winning online travel site focused on the frequent business traveler. We also ran the web sites for United MileagePlus and Marriot Rewards programs in these early days.

ON was founded by Mitch Kapor and other Lotus alumni to create a new programming language and platform for distributed applications (something like Java/J2EE). I was originally hired to help design the language and write the compiler. The plan changed. I worked on Instant-Update, a collaborative document editing system, then eventually wound up as technical lead for Meeting Maker, a Mac & Windows group calendaring and scheduling application used by numerous Fortune 500 companies, universities and government organizations. ON had an IPO in 1995.

I developed a Common Lisp compiler for a new RISC/VLIW processor. The compiler was based on the ORBIT [Kranz, Kelsey, Reese et. al.] and Guy Steele's RABBIT Scheme compilers. I also wrote a 3D graphics system to emulate a simple subset of the Silicon Graphics IRIS display functionality.

ACT was a small software and multimedia company located in the Latin Quarter of Paris. I developed the Macintosh version of Le_Lisp (a dialect of Lisp from the French national research laboratory INRIA).

In 1980 Alan Kay founded a research department at Atari with labs in Sunnyvale and Cambridge. I worked at the Cambridge center on the Gesture Project developing graphic environments, including programming systems, manipulable via touch and force sensitive screens. I also built a system to recognize the position of a human body from television images, then display an animated figure that took the same position.
