I am an early-career social scientist and researcher skilled at using qualitative methodologies to understand mental health literacy, i.e., the framework by which individuals define mental health and illness and the perceptions they hold about stigma and help-seeking. I am a lifelong learner, and I continue to sharpen my skill of knowing the right questions to ask people! A lot of my work has centered on Black/African American individuals and communities who suffer many adverse mental health outcomes, and I believe it is important to first explore perspectives and context in order to adequately meet mental health needs. In addition to my own research interests, I have worked across multiple health research projects and remain committed to maintaining an equitable and culturally responsive lens in my work. I am also passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration and translating person-centered data insights into impactful programs, policies, and products.
