On line Senior Scheduler and OPS Technical Advisor on all Rad Waste (ZLD) and Full Flow Polisher / Condensate Demineralizer systems. I schedule clearances with on-line work, and build work FRAG’s using Primevera (P-6) and SWMS. Coordinate work based on operational priorities, LCO requirements, safety issues as well as corrective actions. Bundling work per FEG’s for efficiency and shop resources. Member of the Palo Verde Long Range Liquid Radwaste Planning / System Health Committee, The Condensate Demineralizer Long Range Planning / System Health Committee, Resin Steering Committee, Secondary Resin Health Committee, Ground Water Protection Program, Total Dissolved Solids / LR Reduction / Sludge Removal Team, and Site Procedure Review Group.

As the Operations Technical Management Assistant, I am still responsible for the oversight, planning and operation for the Condensate Demineralizer systems and all sub-systems in all 3 units, and the oversight, planning and operation for the Rad Waste systems at all 3 of the units. I am also still responsible in scheduling of operations staff for shift coverage, outages, and personnel scheduling for specialized training in addition to scheduling of maintenance for all the Condensate Demineralizer and Rad Waste systems. I write daily and monthly reports for the Operations and Chemistry Leaders. As the Operations Technical Management Assistant, I am the go to person for both the Condensate Demineralizer and Rad Waste System issues, concerns, questions. I have to be able to step in and keep both areas running safely and efficiently for the long term. I am also responsible to ensure that procedures, both operating and administrative, are correct. If errors were found I take the actions to get them corrected. Revising and technically reviewing procedures as necessary for improved Human Factors consideration.

June 2005 – November 2011 (6 years 6 months) My responsibilities included oversight, planning and operation for the Condensate Demineralizer systems and all sub-systems in all 3 units, and the oversight, planning and operation for the Rad Waste systems at all 3 of the units at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. Palo Verde, being a zero liquid discharge facility (ZLD), managing the processing equipment to stay in compliance with all environmental and government (EPA / ADEQ / EPRI / NRC) is a large part of my responsibility. Palo Verde is one of very few stations which successfully operates their ZLD systems and remains in compliance. I directly supervised and trained a staff of 25 proficient operators. Optimized operation of equipment, through procedural enhancements. Responsibilities include scheduling of operations staff for shift coverage, outages, performance review and personnel scheduling for specialized (fork-lift, etc.) training in addition to scheduling of maintenance for all systems. Responsible for procedure writing, review and approval, permit and tagging technical reviews, and verification. Coordinated the work and resources in these areas during refueling outages to ensure that the work continued in timely manner.

June 1996 – June 2005 (9 years) My responsibilities included oversight and planning for Rad Waste operations at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. Directly supervised and trained a staff of 18 operators. Optimized operation of equipment, through procedural enhancements, to reduce Rad Waste generation. Responsibilities included scheduling, performance review and personnel scheduling in addition to scheduling of maintenance for Rad Waste systems. Responsible for procedure writing, review and approval, and verification. Coordinated the work in these areas during refueling outages to ensure that the work continued in timely manner.

Arizona Public Service / Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station

June 1993 – June 2005 (12 years) Monitored and controlled nuclear reactor sub-system and secondary plant auxiliary systems. Operated steam turbine systems, cooling water systems, and electrical generation and distribution systems as required for plant operation and maintenance. Controlled water chemistry via addition of chemicals as well as the use of industry purification techniques. Ownership of system issues from identification to resolution. Specialized in the operation of Graver designed deep bed condensate polisher operation and all associated sub-systems. Also specialized in the operation of an Ecodyne liquid radwaste evaporator and Bechtel built Boric Acid Concentrator.

Monitored and controlled water treatment process systems and secondary plant auxiliary systems. Operated the recalcine furnace, water centrifuges, clarifiers, cooling water systems, and all systems as required for plant operation. Controlled water chemistry via addition of chemicals as well as the use of industry purification techniques. WRF supplies various water sources and chemicals to the power block for power production.

March 1985 – July 1990 (5 years)Monitored and controlled 3 combined cycle and 2 gas turbine generation units and all secondary plant auxiliary systems. Operated 3 oil fired steam turbine systems, plant cooling water systems, and electrical generation and distribution systems as required for plant operation and maintenance. Controlled plant water and boiler water chemistry via addition of chemicals as well as the use of industry purification techniques.

Develope and impliment all training material, audio / visual / written and present 6 week classroom training to all new incoming Operations personel.

Monitored and controlled 8 coal fired boilers / 8 steam turbines and 1 gas turbine generating units and all secondary plant auxiliary systems. Operated all associated plant auxiliaries, plant cooling water systems, and electrical generation and distribution systems as required for plant operation and maintenance.
