Research Project Supervisor And Laboratory Manager
School Of Nutritional Science And Dietetics (Snsd)
Teacher at postgraduate level, Supervisor of 50+ MSc/PhD research projects, Mentor of 100+ postgraduate students, and Manager of the Cellular and Molecular Laboratory[TUMS is internationally acclaimed as the leading institute for medical research in Iran. SNSD is the top school in the country focusing on nutrition in education and research.]• Planned the step-by-step procedure of molecular experiments specific for each research project based on the project aims• Characterised genes/sequences and designed qPCR primers/probes using genome databases (NCBI GenBank, AceView, Ensembl, GeneCards, and SNPedia) and software (Chromas and SnapGene)• Performed the set-up and execution of molecular genetics techniques including quantitative real-time PCR, PCR-RFLP, and DNA sequencing preparation• Designed and implemented training programs and workshops, focusing on safety procedures, experimental protocols, primer/probe design, data analysis, and report preparation• Assessed the quality control of experiments/analyses and offered troubleshooting solutions• Developed, optimised, and evaluated protocols and new techniques, calibrated the equipment, managed the supplies, oversaw the day-to-day lab activities, and prepared reportsAchievements:• Managed to save hundreds of dollars per institute’s project by optimising the experiments to consume the resources with highest efficiency, which also helped offering competitive prices and absorbing $20,000 from other institutes to perform their experiments in our laboratory• Strategically negotiated with suppliers for 25% cost saving in buying new equipment for the lab• Developed a cost-effective alternative to TaqMan probes in real-time qPCR, also inspired other labs • Contributed as co-author in more than 20 articles from the research projects conducted in the lab• Earned Employee of the Year award in 2015
