I have been working on different problems in seismic depth imaging and subsurface model building for more than a decade, with major focus on full waveform inversion (FWI) and reverse time migration (RTM). I have developed codes for FWI and RTM and applied these methods on seismic data acquired for hydrocarbon exploration, mineral exploration, methane hydrate exploration, and crustal-scale depth imaging of subduction zones offshore Japan. With the recent transition in geoscience paradigms, the vision for CO2 emission reduction, and the public demand in the renewable energy resources for a sustainable development, I got interested in and changed my career direction to the renewable energy sector. Currently, I am conducting microseismic surveys, including data acquisition and processing, for geothermal resource exploration.

Project ResearcherThe University Of Tokyo Apr 2019 - Dec 2021Tokyo, JapanSub-seafloor mega earthquakes at trench area, where the oceanic crust is subducted by the continental crust, can trigger devastating Tsunamis. We, at Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute (AORI), use active source seismic surveys to study the high risk sites with high possibility of such earthquakes. -
Research And Development GeophysicistJgi, Inc. Oct 2013 - Mar 2019Tokyo, JapanAt R&D department, I develop innovative solutions for challenging seismic data processing and depth imaging problems, including full waveform inversion (FWI) and reverse time migration (RTM). I developed FWI and RTM codes and applied these methods on field datasets acquired offshore Japan for methane hydrate exploration and submarine massive sulfide (SMS) exploration. These shallow targets beneath seafloor in deep-water environment could be accurately imaged. I have the experience of velocity model building in offshore seismic surveys for deep targets, too. I developed codes for seismic interferometry to convert ocean bottom seismic surveys to virtual surface seismic surveys. I am expert in depth mirror imaging using ghost multiples in vertical cable seismic (VCS) data. I developed a new method to implement Machine Learning algorithms in seismic data interpolation. In addition to industrial work, from time to time I give lectures at academic institutes and conferences. In January 2018 I had a lecture at Kyoto University for undergraduate students which covered methane hydrate explorations. In 2015 I had the honor to be an invited speaker by SEG to give a presentation at SEG FWI Workshop in Abu Dhabi.

Phd ResearcherKyoto University Oct 2010 - Sep 2013Kyoto, JapanI was honored to receive MEXT scholarship from Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan to study in PhD course at Kyoto University. During my research, I focused on development of new methods for Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) using simultaneous seismic sources to reduce the turnaround time. Moreover, I proposed a new method to build initial velocity model by applying geological constraints extracted from well logs, to solve the cycle skipping problem in FWI using band-limited seismic data. While working as a PhD student, I received the best presentation award from Society of Exploration Geophysicists of Japan (SEGJ) for two of my presentations I gave in 2012 and 2013. I had the chance to be selected by SEG to attend the annual meeting and student leadership symposium (SLS) in Houston, which was held and fully supported by Chevron in September 2013. Also, I could pass the qualifications for the student travel grant awarded by EAGE in 2013 to attend the annual conference and student program in London. -
Processing GeophysicistDana Energy Jan 2009 - Sep 2010Tehran, IranI worked both in data acquisition field and data processing center for 2D and 3D seismic surveys. As a field geophysicist, I was responsible for on-site processing and QC of seismic reflection surveys. I also worked on seismic refraction and down-hole data acquisition and processing for shallow low velocity layer modeling. After a year of field work, I moved to processing center and joined a team of experts for marine data processing.
