As a seasoned entrepreneur, in late 2020, Ehsan co-founded a startup team which almost a year later morphed into dibaware™ (Digital Intelligent Brokerage Applications Software abbreviated to dibaware), a fintech/wealthtech startup company focused on the design and development of products such as; electronic trading systems, algorithmic trading infrastructure, online trading panels, and back-office solutions for stock market brokerages. As CEO and CTO, Ehsan has been the driving force behind the company’s rapid growth and success. Under his leadership, dibaware has grown to a team of over 80 professionals, including software developers, engineers, and designers, working across multiple teams to build highly scalable and secure trading systems. After the completion of the software infrastructures, permission to connect to TSE (Tehran Security Exchange), IFB (Iran Fara Borse), and the Iran core national matching engine was obtained from the Iran Securities and Exchange Organization (SEO). Under his executive and technical leadership, dibaware™ has developed various financial tools that have reshaped how the partnered brokerage firm and its institutional/retail traders operate. In 2022, an Iranian commercial bank and its subsidiary brokerage firm acquired dibaware, valuing the company at over 2 million dollars. Although Ehsan is still a shareholder of dibaware™, he left the company to pursue his next big dream. As CTO, Ehsan designed and architected a high-performance Order Management System (OMS) leveraging distributed computing and microservices architecture. The system features scalable, low-latency messaging between microservices, each built with a multi-layer architecture. This robust design ensures optimal performance, resilience, and scalability, meeting the demands of high-frequency trading environments and ensuring seamless order processing and execution.

In late 2019, with a strong background in technology and leadership, Ehsan founded a promising startup focused on cross-border money transfers based on cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. The startup team was hosted at Iran Zamin Innovation Center (IZIC), a startup accelerator and subsidiary of Iran Zamin Bank. The company's business model, akin to Western Union, was designed to improve traditional money transfer services by utilizing blockchain's speed, security, and cost-efficiency. As CEO and CTO, Ehsan led a team of over 14 professionals, including software developers, engineers, and designers. Under his leadership, the team developed a crypto wallet infrastructure and a core engine to calculate the most cost-efficient path for transferring and converting money between various fiat currencies. This innovative technology allowed users to minimize fees and transaction times, making international money transfers more accessible and affordable. Although the startup achieved significant milestones and was valued at over $300,000, it faced challenges due to changes in the regulatory framework governing crypto transactions, which finally caused the suspension of operations. Despite the startup's unfortunate cease, Ehsan gained crucial experience in various crypto-related technologies such as (1) Smart Contracts (to create self-executing contracts on blockchain platforms, ensuring that terms related to collaterals lock-release are met without intermediaries), (2) Blockchain Oracles (to extend the functionality of smart contracts by connecting them to the traditional financial system, enabling contracts to interact with open banking APIs and fiat-based infrastructures), (3) Multi-signature Wallet (an essential security component of managing digital assets) and (4) Collateralized Debt Positions (CDPs) (which are integral to decentralized finance (DeFi), providing facility to lock assets as collateral to generate credit in stablecoins)

As a seasoned Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with near two decades of experience in software architecture and engineering, banking and payment technologies, in 2018, Ehsan invited to serve as a consultant and part-time CTO at Iran Zamin Innovation Center (IZIC)—a subsidiary of Iran Zamin Bank. Under his administration and consultancy, one of the first Open Banking infrastructures in Iran was designed, developed, and implemented at Iran Zamin Bank. The innovative system utilized WSO2 API manager technology and featured a robust backend built in Java, with Oracle as the database engine. The system's architecture empowered the bank to offer secure, scalable, and innovative financial services, marking Iran Zamin bank one of few Open Banking providers of Iran. Additionally, Ehsan led the development of an Omni-Channel banking services infrastructure—a crucial component of digital banking transformation—that sits atop the open banking API. This system enables the bank to provide services such as Neo-Bank and seamlessly integrates across multiple channels, offering customers a unified banking experience. A visionary in software design, Ehsan also proposed and developed a Domain-Specific Language (DSL) aimed at generating a unified user interface across multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, Windows, as well as various devices like ATMs, POS systems, kiosks, and mobile devices. This innovation helped streamlining the user experience across diverse touch points. Following the merger of IZIC into Farazware—another subsidiary of Iran Zamin Bank—Ehsan left the company. During his tenure in subsidiaries of Iran Zamin Bank, Ehsan gained extensive expertise in open banking, API management, and multi-platform integration.

As an early adapter of blockchain and cryptocurrency technologies, Ehsan established small mining farms in rural regions, selecting locations with access to cheaper electricity. This laid the foundation for his success in small-scale crypto mining, leveraging cost-effective energy sources to mine various cryptocurrencies. As his experience and ambitions grew, Ehsan and a few colleagues invested in a much larger venture—a 1.5-megawatt crypto mining farm called digicy (digital currency). The facility boasted over 30 petahash of hashing power, which at the time could generate the equivalent of nearly one Bitcoin per week, in addition to mining Litecoin and some other cryptocurrencies. Ehsan played a dual role in the farm’s success, serving as both the technology expert and managing director, where he oversaw operations and technological development. With his background in software engineering, Ehsan also designed and developed an advanced algorithmic trading infrastructure to maximize profits from the mined cryptocurrencies. He created a crypto portfolio management system integrated with multiple exchanges and wallets, optimizing trading strategies and ensuring efficient management of assets. Unfortunately, shortly after launching digicy, regulatory changes in Iran severely restricted cryptocurrency mining, forcing the farm to cease operations. Despite the significant financial loss, Ehsan gained invaluable expertise in crypto-related technologies, including mining infrastructure, algorithmic trading, and digital assets portfolio management. His journey has made him a seasoned expert in the field, with a profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the evolving world of digital currencies.

With a deep expertise in software architecture and engineering and over a decade of experience in electronic payment and banking technologies, Ehsan founded novapay™. Serving as CEO/CTO, Ehsan demonstrated the ability to lead complex projects and drive innovation in financial technology. Under his leadership, novapay™ successfully executed several innovative projects in the mobile payment and banking space. One of novapay’s projects is the design and development of a comprehensive mobile payment infrastructure. This project was executed in collaboration with Pardakh Novin Arian (PNA), one of Iranian major payment service providers (PSPs). The system seamlessly integrates into the payment processing infrastructure for debit and credit cards. Ehsan also led the development of a mobile banking system in partnership with Rayan Eghtesad Novin, a subsidiary of Eghtesad Novin Bank, one of the leading private banks in Iran. As an early adopter of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, Ehsan led the design and development of a Crypto-based Payment Gateway (CPG) integrated with traditional card payment infrastructure, which gave him a deep understanding of crypto wallets, and the intricacies of blockchain transaction processing, crypto payment processing and more advanced technologies such as Inter-Ledger Protocol (ILP). Expanding novapay’s impact, Ehsan conducted the creation of a mobile payment and In-App payment infrastructure in cooperation with Shahr Avazeh, a subsidiary of Shahr Bank, another prominent private bank in Iran. Among other notable achievements, Ehsan directed the development of a Self-Checkout system using mobile smart devices in collaboration with Shahrvand Hypermarket and Shahr Avazeh. The solution aims to empower shoppers to complete their purchases independently and streamline the checkout process in one of the largest chain stores in Iran. In 2018, Ehsan left novapay™ while he was still on the board.

As a seasoned software architect and engineer with experience designing and developing mobile solutions for the banking and payment sectors, Ehsan co-founded minamehr™, a software startup where he served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). As the founder and CTO of minamehr™, Ehsan led the company’s technical efforts, overseeing the development of innovative mobile applications and systems. One of minamehr’s most significant projects was the design and development of a mobile banking solution in cooperation with TOSAN, a leading banking software vendor in Iran. The solution was developed for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone platforms. The Android application was written in native Java under the Android runtime and Dalvik, while the iOS version was built using Objective-C/C++. The Windows Phone application was developed in C# using early versions of XAML technology. To ensure a unified user experience across these platforms, Ehsan designed an abstracted user interface layer, enabling a consistent look and feel on all devices despite their differing architectures. Beyond mobile banking, Ehsan spearheaded several other notable projects at minamehr™. These included the development of a mobile “Yellow Pages” system in collaboration with Mobile Communication of Iran (MCI), providing users with an efficient way to search for businesses and services. He also led the design and development of a mobile-based management and monitoring system for POS (Point-of-Sale) devices, working with Iran Kish Credit Card, a major electronic payment provider in Iran. Additionally, he developed a mobile-based prepaid voucher dispensing system in partnership with one of MTN Irancell’s subsidiaries, enabling users to purchase and manage prepaid services through their mobile devices. After several successful years, minamehr™ was acquired by another company, and Ehsan exited the company to pursue his next big dream.

In 2008, Ehsan, as an experienced software engineer/architect and executive manager with an expertise in electronic and mobile payment systems, joined patsa (one of the joint members of MTN Irancell consortium), where he led research and development efforts focused on creating mobile payment solutions integrated with traditional card payment systems. In his role, he designed a comprehensive mobile payment system that integrated seamlessly with existing card payment infrastructure, leveraging ISO 8583 payment switches for secure and efficient transactions. Ehsan also developed a detailed business plan and proposal for the mobile payment solution, which included market analysis, technical specifications, and financial projections. His involvement extended beyond technical design; he actively negotiated with potential financial institutions, gaining valuable experience in business management and fostering relationships with crucial stakeholders. The mobile payment system was specifically customized for one of Iran’s leading private banks, ensuring that the solution met the bank’s regulatory and operational requirements. This gave Ehsan a deep understanding of how to align technology solutions with the financial industry’s needs. One of the notable projects he led during his tenure was the “Mobile Parking” system, a solution designed to manage on-site parking spaces using RFID technology combined with mobile payments. The project, developed for Mashhad Municipality, one of the largest municipalities in Iran, aimed to optimize parking management and provide citizens with a more convenient and efficient way to pay for parking using their mobile devices. Through his work, Ehsan has demonstrated his ability to design cutting-edge payment solutions while also navigating the complexities of business management, client relations, and large-scale customization for both financial institutions and municipal organizations.

As a senior software engineer and architect, Ehsan co-founded mehrmobi™, a software startup, where he served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). At mehrmobi™, Ehsan led the development of one of Iran’s first mobile banking and payment solutions. The mobile banking solution was built for early mobile platforms using Java ME (with MIDP 2.0) and Symbian OS, ensuring wide device compatibility. To offer a seamless user experience across diverse mobile devices with varying form factors, the user interface was implemented entirely in canvas mode. For Symbian devices, the client-side application was written in Visual C++ using SDKs from Nokia and other vendors. The solution optimized communication over narrow-band channels like SMS and GPRS by employing compression techniques, making it highly efficient in low-bandwidth environments. On the back-end, the system was powered by Java EE, hosted on IBM WebSphere Application Server, with Oracle as the database engine. The server infrastructure ran on early versions of Red Hat Linux, ensuring a stable and scalable back-end for handling the high demand of mobile transactions. Another key project at mehrmobi™ was “Mobile Police,” a collaboration with Malaysia Multimedia University (MMU). This solution enabled law enforcement staff to access crucial information anytime, anywhere, using low-bandwidth connections such as 2.5G networks (GPRS). The mobile application was developed for handheld devices running Windows CE, with client-side code written in Visual C++ and the .NET Compact Framework. Back-end services were developed in Visual C# .NET, while data transfer between the clients and the server was optimized using compression to minimize communication costs. The system used Microsoft SQL Server on the back-end and Microsoft SQL CE for local storage on the handheld devices. After several years of success, mehrmobi™ was acquired by one of its shareholders, at which point Ehsan exited the company.

As a passionate software engineer and researcher, Ehsan was invited to perform some research on secure data transfer and mobile communications at Fars Telecom Company (a subsidiary of Iran Telecommunication Company). he led a research and software development project focused on creating a secure and optimized data transfer method over mobile narrow-band channels, such as SMS and USSD. This project addressed the challenges of transferring data efficiently on limited bandwidth networks, which were prevalent in early 2G mobile communication systems and networks. To successfully design and implement the solution, Ehsan had to gain deep expertise in crucial areas such as cryptography, data coding, and data compression. He applied these skills to ensure that data could be securely transmitted over constrained and intermittent channels while maintaining efficiency in terms of speed and bandwidth usage. The project was developed primarily using Java ME, a technology suited for early programmable mobile devices. His method allowed for secure communication and optimized data transfer, making it applicable to various mobile communication scenarios with limited bandwidth. His innovative work led to a patent application related to optimized data transfer methods on narrow-band channels, highlighting his contributions to the field of telecommunications.

As a passionate software developer and software engineer, Ehsan initiated one of his early notable projects as an Independent Software Vendor (ISV) for Islamic Azad University. The project focused on automating the university’s student graduation process, streamlining what had previously been a manual and time-consuming workflow. The software was built as a multi-user client/server application with a layered object-oriented programming (OOP) architecture, ensuring scalability and maintainability. Most of the development was carried out in Visual Basic 6.0, but as .NET technology emerged, Ehsan successfully ported the application to Visual C# .NET, ensuring the system’s compatibility with modern platforms and technologies. The project also involved a significant data migration effort. Ehsan led the migration of student records from a legacy FoxPro (as well as Btrieve!) system to Microsoft SQL Server, ensuring data integrity and improving database performance. The new system allowed for better management of student records, faster processing times, and more reliable data storage. The client-side application was developed using Windows Forms technology, creating an intuitive and user-friendly interface for the university staff to manage graduation processes. This project played a key role in digitizing a critical administrative function and showcased Ehsan’s ability to handle complex software development tasks, from system architecture to data migration and user interface design.

Ehsan was a newly graduated electrical and electronic engineer with a strong passion for software development for the power distribution sector. His journey into the field began in 1999 when he interned at an electric power distribution company. During this internship, he initiated and contributed to the design and development of a computer-aided design (CAD) software system, tailored specifically for electric power engineers. The CAD system, which featured a user-friendly WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface, was an enhanced tool at the time. It allowed engineers to design electric power distribution networks more efficiently and cost-effectively, streamlining the planning process and reducing overhead costs. Written in Visual C/C++ and Visual Basic, the software was built to run under Microsoft Windows 98, a leading operating system of that era. At a time when no other similar software existed, the project stood out as a valuable innovation, enhancing the design capabilities available to power engineers. This hands-on experience with both electrical engineering principles and software development early in his career allowed Ehsan to gain a deep understanding of how technology can optimize industry-specific processes. Years later, parts of the source code developed during this project were utilized by some of his colleagues in academia for their master’s degree theses, further contributing to the academic community and demonstrating the software’s versatility and practical relevance in advancing engineering research. Ehsan’s unique blend of skills in electrical engineering and software development positions him well to continue making meaningful contributions to the engineering field, with a keen focus on integrating modern software tools to enhance traditional engineering processes.
