I am working on adding advanced technologies to the set-top box. As usual with embedded systems, computing with less memory and processing power imposes constraints that demand creative engineering.

I am in charge of all the software needs for the Corporate R&D group. This includes custom desktop, mobile and web applications as well as establishing infrastructure, including tool chains (source code management, bug reporting, etc) and databases.I am also instrumental in our group's collaboration with other groups internally. With minor modifications, our tools often become useful for other groups within Harman. It is my job to find out what those modifications are, ensure their implementation and help those other groups integrate the tool into their work-flow. I started at Bioscrypt as a firmware developer. Our products required a lot of interfacing to the outside world (eg, fingerprint sensors, keypads, and serial ports). I would make sure our product would respond correctly to those interfaces.Later on in my employment at Bioscrypt, I became heavily involved in maintaining and developing the fingerprint comparison algorithm in our products. This demanded a much deeper understanding of the mathematical basis upon which the signal processing was built.Later on still, I became a sales engineer. In this capacity, I evaluated the collaborative value of potential partners, worked with them to integrate our algorithm and supported them afterwards.

I performed a wide variety of product development tasks at Gordian. I developed hardware, including an embedded modem and a web-aware audio device, and software, including a port of many WinCE functions over to a proprietary, UNIX-like operating system.
