Full time intern position in Process&Research Engineering Group at Oceanside Wastewater Plant. Performed office, field and laboratory work. Conducting sampling, analyzing data and monitoring processes for supporting daily operations at the plant and special projects.- Model the oxygen consumption curve of the Aeration Process. - Proposed energy-efficient alternatives for oxygen generation. - Design full and lab scale experiments to optimize anaerobic selection and hydraulic retention time in the Secondary Biological Treatment.- Plan and conduct laboratory analysis required to perform a phosphorus mass balance across the plant.- Co-evaluate the Phosphorus recovery potential of the facility.- Organize an action plan to address recurrrent problem with nitrifying bacteria growth in pipelines.- Work with manufacturers in the implementation of an online organic carbon analyzer. - Develop protocols, standard operating procedures, technical reports and presentations.- Complete odor surveys and instruments calibrations.

Plant Filter Bed Inspection and Depth Measurement at Jardine (1400MGD) and Southside (720MGD) Water Purification Plants- Achieve operational and initial structural inspection of over a 100 multi media filters and their structure.- Collate data with the goal to provide better performance of the filtration process.- Field work: Media depth measurements, trough inspection, surface wash system and backwash observation.

- Conduct research, including critical review and wastewater laboratory work on chemical P removal. - Determine P adsorption on alum sludge, its optimal conditions and the effect of pH, temperature, solids recycling and aging.- Develop a test protocol to determine the feasibility of using alum sludge in tertiary treatment.

- Collaborate in Heath&Security team in Nicaragua Bridge Building Project.- Concieve a field procedure to evaluate population health situation and their access to potable water.
