About Isaac Lara

⭐️ My Mission: Creating a happier, healthier global community👋 Hello! My name is Ernesto Isaac Lara (he/him). I am a well-being advocate, community builder, researcher, caregiver, plant lover, and proud father to a seven-year-old Yorkie. Rooted in my own lived experience, I am passionate about enhancing the mental well-being of our global community through intersectional, peer support, and co-created models of care. I am a first generation college graduate and studied at the University of California, San Diego, where I received a Master of Arts in Global Health and a Bachelors of Science in Clinical Psychology and Global Health (Double Major) with a minor in General Biology. During my college career, I discovered my passion for peer support through my time as a student leader advocating for student well-being, and by providing support to my peers as an Undergraduate Student Mentor ("big").I have dedicated my early career to expanding access to peer support services and enhancing my knowledge of decolonial models of community healing. Currently, I serve a Research Assistant at the Mental Health for All Lab at Harvard Medical School, where I lead the EMPOWER Peer Support Initiative. This endeavor aims to develop a digital, global peer support curriculum to equip those with lived experience of recovery to support others earlier in their healing journey. Additionally, I support the development of peer support services in my home state, California, through my work guiding the Stanford Medicine Center for Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing’s allcove initiative.
