A four year Honours degree, with Nutrition, Microbiology, Food Waste Management, Food Analysis and Food Development. I spent my final year holding the position of class representative in 2014/2015 and created a novel food product 'Lily Q Sushi' as part of my final year project.

I spent 18 weeks as part of third year, learning how to brew beer using hops, yeast & milled grain. The hands-on experience was physically challenging and hugely enjoyable. I was part of a small team, so even while working independently on assigned side projects like examining the purity of their yeast in the laboratory, I was still aware of all on-goings in the factory. I conducted market research into canning/bottling and some other tasks involved installing beer lines in new customer premises/cleaning existing lines, so every day was interesting. I gained valuable experience and insight into how a new business expands even in a short time. At the end of my placement, I did a presentation summarising my work in Metalman Brewing, where I received huge praise on my contributions from the co-owner Gráinne Walsh.
